Ohio to Make History to Host First American Mixed Martial Art
State Championship Charles Reed, world-class professional MMA trainer, in conjunction with Shawn Meyer and RAMA Promotions will host on April 14, 2012 the semi-final championship and on June 2, 2012 the final championship event that, as the first of its kind, will incontestably name State MMA Champions in every weight division. This championship is centered on the principle of taking the best fighters from the state of Ohio in each weight division and having them fight for the title. Each fight will be organized by random and impartial match-ups. Reed initially had the idea of a State ranked MMA Championship eight years ago. His goal is to propel up-and-coming amateur fighters towards their dreams of professional MMA careers. "Our goal is to give successful amateurs the platform to prove to the UFC, Strike Force, etc... that they are on their way to the big shows," says Charles Reed. Amateur MMA Fighters from all over Ohio have been extended invitations based on their official sanctioned records. A huge event for Cincinnati, as U.S. Bank Arena will be the venue for both semi-final and final championships. Tickets can be purchased at Ticketmaster. Reed is attempting an unprecedented feat of uniting several MMA organizations within Ohio to participate in this statewide two-part event. These events will be officially sanctioned in accordance to Ohio Athletics Commission regulations. Mr. Reed would like to personally thank Bernie Profato and the Ohio Athletic Commission staff for being instrumental in helping these events to happen. Charles Reed imparts these words with the fighters whom have taken the challenge: If you're not dreaming, then you're not alive, follow your dream. Conquer any obstacles that may arise. Stay focused and persistent; let nothing stand in your way. Dream and live each day by taking the steps closer to making your dreams a reality. -Release written by: Meredith Larsen |
